in order to 为了

so as to 以致；以便
1.So as to achieve self harmony. 从而达到人自身的和谐。
2.She went early so as to get a good seat. 翻译：她去的早,所以得了一个好座位.
3.He arranged matters so as to suit everybody. 他把事情安排得人人都合适。
4.Show time so as to achieve the exit function. 从而实现显示时间各退出程序的功能。

so that 以便；所以
1.We eat, so that we live.
我们吃饭，才得以生存。（结果）
2.So that we can live a new life in freedom.
让我们能够得到一种全新的，自由的生命。
3.Can you silence the children so that I can work?
你能不能使孩子们安静点好让我工作?
4.The ink had faded so that many words were illegible.
墨水有已褪色的以便许多字是难辨认的。

而so that 也可表结果
具体讲解如下：

1.In order to survive, Chuck develops a friendship with an unusual friend-a volleyball he calls Wilson. 为了求生,查克交了一个不同寻常的朋友-- 一个被他叫作威尔逊的排球。
2.... who is always so busy that he has little time for his friends. 他总是很忙,以至于几乎没有时间交朋友。
这两句中,in order to +动词原形引导目的状语。so as to +动词原形。
有时为了表示强调,也可以将in order to do, to do 等放在句首,而so as to do 一般不放在句首,也比较口语化。
表达否定的目的时,可以用in order not to do和so as not to do 这两种结构。例:
In order to (=To) hear more clearly, we moved to the front row. 为了听得更清楚,我们挪到了前排。
He ran quickly in order not to (= so as not to) be late for the meeting. 他跑得很快,以便(为的是)不迟到。

so +adj. / adv. that可以引导结果状语从句,意思是"如此……以至于……",也可用于so + adj. + n.+that结构。
例:
1.He ran so fast that nobody could catch up with him. 他跑得太快,没人能追得上他。
2.He drank so much Coke that he felt terrible. 他喝了那么多可乐,感觉很难受。
so that和in order that可以引导的目的状语从句与结果状语从句,引导目的状语从句时说明主语的行为目的,引导结果状语从句时多说明主句行为的结
果。从结构上看前者多带有情态动词。

请对比下列从句:
I'll keep the box in the shade so that the sun doesn't burn the little plants. 我把箱子放在树荫下,这样太阳就烤不坏植物。(结果状语从句)
They stayed in Hangzhou so that they could visit the West Lake. 他们在杭州停留下来以便可以游览一下西湖。(目的状语从句)

in order to表示目的，翻译成中文就是“来，为了”
so as to跟in order to差不多
so that表结果，意思是“这样就会...”
