善举 An Act of Charity An act of charity can be initiated whenever help is given, or offered, free of charge. The one facet of charity that is common to both, the giver and the receiver, is hope. The giver hopes that the gift, in whatever form it might take, will be put to good use and will benefit the receiver. The receiver, on the other hand, often hopes that the gift will lead to a better life and help restore the ability to become useful and self sustaining. While genuine charity is delivered unconditionally, all acts of charity do come with responsibilities for both parties. 慈善之举任何无常的帮助和赠与都是一种才慈善之举。对于捐赠者和受赠者而言，这一善举寄托了他们共同的希望。对捐赠者来说，无论他是以何种方式进行捐助，他们都希望能够给受赠者带来实实在在的好处。另一方面，对受赠者来说，他们总是希望这些捐助能够让自己过上更好的生活，并且有助于自己自力更生。尽管慈善之举是无偿的，但双方都要为慈善行为负责。 Volunteering Volunteering is the lifeblood of many charitable organizations that exist, only through people willing to give their time, and ability, to help others. Much good work, around the world, would be left undone were it not for the generosity of volunteers. The openings for volunteers cover, almost, every aspect of human endeavour. Much of this attitude in people comes from the notion of being kind to one another. There is an international organization named, “Random Acts of Kindness” whose sole aim is to promote that very concept to people around the world. By spreading kindness for no reason, other than the desire to be friendly, they hope it will awaken the same response in the person receiving the gift. 爱心行动慈善需要有善心，需要有体贴同情之心，需要能够对他人的窘境给予关怀的仁爱之心。人们的这些心态一半来自于这样一种理念，即与人为善。有一个名叫“爱心行动”的国际组织，其核心目的就是要向世人传播要善待身边每一个人这种理念。该组织通过向人们传播仁爱，宣扬彼此友爱，希望那些接受爱心馈赠的人们同样把自己的爱心传递给身边的其他人。 Incentives Many people, on the receiving end of charity, are in such dire straits that they have lost the ability, and motivation, to get themselves out of their situation. In cases like that, charity needs to come with the offer of some form of hope. There needs to be an incentive for people to change their circumstances; there needs to be programs put in place to help people shed their dependence on charity. This will never be an easy task but, it has to be done if the cycle of dependence is to be broken. 爱心激励许多慈善活动的受赠人都处在一种极度窘迫之中，他们失去了让自己摆脱困境的能力与动力。在这种情况下，慈善团体就需要为他们提供某种希望。要鼓励他们改变现状，要为他们设立专门的项目，来帮助他们摆脱对慈善救助的依赖。尽管这不是一项简单的工作，但是要想打破这种循环依靠的话，这项工作就必须要做。
