Making a decision on a trip
Peter, Dave, Tony .Linda(travel agent)
Peter:hi, Dave, long time no see. How are you?
Dave: fine. thanks. I just came back from Yangzhi river cruise.(长江三峡游) . This is my buddy Tony. We went together.
Tony: nice to meet you, Peter.
Peter: Nice to meet you, too. Tony.
Did you have a good time?
Tony: I think we did. But it was too hot there. Right, Dave?
Dave:pretty much. The scenery is so beautiful along the river.How is everything with you?
Peter: I am fine,too. thank you. Oh, maybe you two can help me with this.
Dave: what can we do for you?
Peter: I am planning a trip next month. But I can't make up my mind as to which city I should go. It is really hard to decide.
Tony: Hehehe...decision decision,ok, maybe three heads are better than one. what are the choices?
Peter: Hangzhou, Suzhou, and yangzhou
Dave: I went to Suzhou last year. I had very bad experiences there. The taxi drivers were rude. The hotel services were lousy and the food was...
Tony: I had bad experiences there too.
Peter: all right, forget Suzhou then. How about Hangzhou and Yangzhou?
Dave: I have never been there. I can't make any comments on that. I think you need to find the imformation from the travel agency to see if they offer any good deals.
Tony: Right. Let me call Lucky Travel Agency. It is pretty good.
Linda: Lucky Travel Ageny, How can I help you?
Tony: I need to find out the prices of the tickects to Yangzhou and Hangzhou Next month
Linda: We have two flights (航班)to Hangzhou daily and three flights to Yangzhou weekly. The price to Hangzhou is $550 and the price to Yangzhou is $35o.
Tony: Why is there such a big difference in the price. The two cities are not that far.
Linda: well, It is the peak season to go to Hangzhou in summer. There is no discount when I quote the price .There is a 15%discount to Yangzhou .
Tony: Let me think about it. I will call you back.
Linda: ok. Bye.
Peter: what ‘s up?
Tony: the airlines, hotels are not offering any discounts if you want to go to Hangzhou as it is the peak season in summer. But if you go to Yangzhou, you can get 15 % discounts on the plane tickets.
Dave: I think on the hotels, too.
Tony: Right. I think you should take that into consideration.
Peter: you are right. I really hate to go to a scenery packed with people.I can always pick a better time to go to Hangzhou.right?
Dave: absolutely.
Peter: so I will book the ticket right now.
Tony: I will call the agency for you.
Peter: Thank you so much, Dave and Tony!
Dave: that's what friends are for.
Tony:(call the travel agency) Hi,I called a minute ago about the trip to Hanagzhou and to Yangzhou. I need a ticket to Yangzhou in August.
Linda: Ok. What date?
Tony: I’d better let my friend talk to you.(passes the phone to Peter.) Tell her the date of the trip please.
Peter: August 12.
Linda: how many people?
Peter: one.
Linda: Please spell your full name please.
Peter: P-E-T-E-R. That’s my first name. My last name is W-A-N-G.
Linda:Ok. You may come to pick up your ticket this afternoon. 2021 Jiankang road.
Peter: Thank you so much.
Linda: you are welcome. Have a good day.
Peter: you, too.
Dave: so all set?
Peter: yes. Thank you for your help, too.
Tony and Dave: Anytime. Hope you have a good time in Yangzhou.

A: It had been quite some time since we all last met! My holiday had just started. How about yours?
B: It is nice too see you again A. My holiday will be starting next week onwards.How I wish my holiday starts today.My brothers are already in Europe travelling.
C: Well, today is the last day for school. My exam is over this morning. I cant wait to enjoy my holiday!
A: Congratulations C. How about you D?
D: Same with you, A. My holiday had just started too.This year my holiday will be quite different. I am planning to travel overseas.
B: That is great! Where are you planning to visit?
D: I am plannning to visit Malaysia because my sister and her husband is living there. I have not seen my sister for a long time. Besides I heard Malaysia is an interesting place to visit.
C: Yes, I heard there are many nice food in Malaysia. The weather there is warm too.If I'm not going Korea with my parents, I might go along with you to Malaysia.
A: You are going Korea, C? How come I have never heard about it from you?
C: It was my parent's idea. They had always wanted to visit Korea after watching all those Korean dramas. But it is snowing in Korea. I wonder if there are any interesting stuff there to visit.
B: I think Korea will be very fun to visit. My sister visited Korea with her boyfriend last year. She enjoyed the trip very much. She said there are many good places to visit. She took alot of photos.
A: How I hope I will be able to go travel overseas. This holiday I am stranded at home. My father wanted me to work in his office. He said he will need my help.
D: At least you will gain new experience. What type of company is your father's?
A: My father is into the printing industry. He wanted me to help him distribute his orders. I have originally planned to visit my aunty in Singapore but my plan was cancelled.
B: Don't worry A. You can always go Singapore next holiday. At least you have your families with you. Unlike me, my whole family is currently in Europe visiting.
C: Poor thing! So through out this holiday you will be all alone at home? Don't you have any other plans?
B: Yes I will be alone for the whole month. I have not give any thoughts on how to spend this long holiday.
D: How about joining me on the Malaysia trip? Are you interested? I am going alone. I think it will be fun if you are going along with me.
A: What a splendid idea! You should go ahead with it B! This is for sure better than staying at home all holiday.
B: Your idea is very tempting, D. I have always wanted to visit Malaysia . I heard there are many nice places to visit. But I feel a little awkward. Won't your sister be unhappy if I tag along with you?
D: Don't be silly.My sister will deffinitely welcome you. It's settle then! We will discuss further on this issue when I am planning to book the air tickets. You can also give your parents a call and discuss with them. You can confirm with me this weekend.
A: Seems like all of you will be able to go travel. Pity me. I am the only one stuck working. Maybe I will try to convince my father to allow me to have at least one week break from the holiday job.
C: I believe your dad will deffinitely give you a break.I will be back from Korea two weeks later. Maybe by then we can go for a local short trip together.What do you think?
A: Well it is wonderful. Thanks for having this thought, C! I will deffinitely appreciate a short trip. In fact there are many places local I have not yet visited.
D: Yes me too. If I am not away at that time, I will join both of you.
C: By the way, remember to bring us some souveniors from Malaysia, B and D.I remember watching the TV. They have many nice wooden handcraft. I love those stuff.
A: Yes! I've seen from a tourism brochure that there are many nice crafts with unique designs.
D: Sure! Me and B will seek out the best gifts for both of you.
B: Then I will leave you all for now. My classmates are waiting for me in the station. Goodbye and happy holiday!
A: I am leaving soon too. See you!
