请翻译Finding the Item in the Library

After you have searched InvestiGator and found the item you are looking for, look carefully at the record for the Location, Call # and Status of the item.

  • Location - tells you which collection the item is part of. The most common Location is Main Collection, which simply means the main part of the Library and most of the items that may be checked out. However, you will also see listed under Location,
    • Annex I Ref Collection (items that must be used in the Library Annex I; they cannot be checked out),
    • Reference Collection (items that can usually be checked out for two hours),
    • Reserve Collection (items that can usually be checked out from Reserve Services, HSS 102, for short periods of time),
    • Government Collection (items published by some governmental body), etc

Call # - the Call number is the unique address of that item in the Library.

      • Status - this tells you whether the item is available or not. You may see any of the following in the Status box:
        • AVAILABLE (should be on the shelf -- ready to be retrieved by staff)
        • DUE 12-01-09 (is checked out and the due date is given)
        • MISSING (has not been returned or cannot be located)
        • BIND (has been sent out to be repaired)

    Requesting a Book

Click on the the "Request Item" button at the top of the page. Your book will be delivered for you to pick up at HSS 102

    Reading a Call Number

Call numbers are the unique address of every item in the Library. Call numbers appe

The J. Paul Leonard Library uses the Library of Congress system (as opposed to the Dewey Decimal system used by Public Libraries) to organize books and other materials. The entire call number is a set of letters and numbers in several sections.
Notice that each section of the call number starts over and items are filed in alphabetical or numerical order
