Celebrity worship has existed for a long time. In ancient time, people regard the emperor as the son of god and obey everything he said. I think it’s a kind of celebrity worship. Celebrity worship nowadays is different obviously. It is common among young people. According to some researches, most of college and high school students in cities are devoted fans of movie, singing or sports stars. This belongs to recreational idolatry. Why more and more young people are crazy for the celebrities? There are three reasons: the development of the media, the pressure from people around and the glamorous traits of the celebrity. Every coin has two sides, so is the celebrity worship. A group of people adore celebrities because they have some good characters and spirits. It is beneficial to us to learn their persistence and patience. We need to know they are common people, too. They also meet with failure, challenge and disappointment. What we should focus on is their story of courage, perseverance and success. Their clothes, wealth or affairs are subordinate to us. Nowadays there is one new word called “celebrity worship syndrome”. It means that a person becomes overly involved with the details of a celebrity’s personal life. I think it is awful because these persons turn their hobbies to a kind of mental illness. When a hobby changes your life deeply, I think it’s time to give up. If you spend too much time to follow the celebrity, you will miss too many good chances. Maybe in the end, you will find you haven’t finished anything. All in all, celebrityworship is neither good nor bad. People need to find something and someone to inspire them. So self-control is the most important 。

In our daily life, we are affected by the famous movie stars, popular singers and successful athletes everywhere. These images appear on the package of products, billboards and TV commercial ads, in a word, we contact with the celebrities all the time. People admire the celebrity’s success, they adore them, want to be one of them, sometimes they overreact on the process of pursuing stars.
