为什么是the way +that/in which而不能是the way which

the way 做先行词，定语从句的引导词只有以下三种：
way 后面跟定语从句有三种形式。
(1) way + in which + 定语从句
例如：
She was pleased with the way （in which ）he had accepted her criticism.
(2) way + that +定语从句
例如：
They didn’t do it in the way（ that ）we do now.
(3) way + 定语从句 ， 省略引导词
例如：
He didn’t speak the way （不填）I do.

不存在the way which的用法。

都可以，要看在什么句子里。 this is the way, that leads to your office. 这是通向你办公室的路。 this is the way, which you were talking about yesterday. 这是你昨天说的办法（路）。

给你举个例子，我们通常会这样说：We finish our homework in thay way We apply that way to finish our homework. 当我们在定语从句中用the way +that时，那么这里的way就充当了定语从句的宾语；而用the way in which时，这里就用的是关于way的状语从句（in the way）。所以定语从句中会用上述两种方式。

这样是方式状语，要用that或者in which 引导
