other泛指“另外的，别的” 只作定语，other后既可接可数名词复数形式又可接不可数名词; 但如果前面有the, this, that, some, each, every, my, his等时, 则可与单数名词连用 | other pencils, other students, other information the other day(a few days ago前几天), every other week(每隔一周) the other book (另外的一本书) I met Mr. Smith in the park the other day |
others泛指其他的人或物; 等于other + 复数名词 | Some like football, while others like basketball. some children like apples, other children like bananas |
the other特指两者中的另外一个, 常与one 连用. | He held a book in one hand and his notes in the other. He has two sons. One is a teacher; the other is a doctor. |
the others 特指其他的人或物; 等于the other + 复数名词 | Two students in our class failed, but all the others passed the exam. (the others = the other students) This dictionary is better than the others. (the other = the other dictionaries) |
