这题考得是独立主格结构, 前一句做主句的伴随状语. for example, He stood, with his arms crossed.例句中用crossed因为胳膊是被交叉的 所以用被动。disappointing表示令人失望的 整句话意思是 有一个令人失望的儿子让老人感到不开心。

with引导的独立结构,表原因,disappoint是让某人失望的意思 动作发出者是his son 在独立结构中谓语动词要变成动名词或者过去分词两种非谓语动词形式 现在儿子是可以发出动作的所以是动名词结构 如果动作者无法发出动作 则用过去分词结构 整句话的主语是 the old man 老人因为儿子让他失望而不开心。
