Having spent ALOT of time reading up about these particular Jeeps and the pros and cons this is what I found....... the ones with sunroofs (Liberty included) have leak issues,not all,but most,this is due to not having a continuous drain from the sunroof,also the configuration of the roof rails etc directly impact leaking.The engine size I opted for was 3.7,no sunroof,chose the base model and upgraded it ALOT,full chrome MOPAR dress outside and stereo upgrade (naturally with all steering wheel controls operational),walnut dash,well,you get the picture,I have owned this about 2 years now and havent had ANY of the Commander issues,or any others come to that,it performs without issue in deep/heavy snow,VERY smooth and quiet on the highway,VERY comfortable and is an excellent daily use vehicle,it does not have diff locks but has the automated 4 wheel drive system that I admit I was dubious about but Jeeps statements ARE true,it performs seamlessly,mine is in white so the MOPAR chrome compliments it perfectly,coupled with a Stainless Steel Bull Bar and rear Stainless Steel light guards I think its a great looking,great driving 4 wheel drive vehicle,again,it really has been a faultless vehicle so far,especially knowing how many owners are disappointed with the problems they have had with this particular marque.I am currently investigating a modest lift on this vehicle,I have researched long enough to know a lift kit over 2 1/2" can and does cause front end issues over a period of time so will likely opt for the 2 1/2" which will be ample for a set of 31's (my Bronco runs 35's and its funny watching my wife try and scramble up into it!),as a long time Jeep owner,(several Jeeps,ALL have been GOOD),I can honestly say this is an inexpensive 4wd of its size because it had so many issues people were loathe to buy them ergo lower purchasing prices.
As with all of these vehicles,they have the switchable auto transmission(use it as a manual or an auto) that also proves useful in inclement weather.
To close,as an enthusiast of Jeeps,I am very pleased all round with mine,I know some dont like the shape and some dont like the problems linked with these vehicles and Jeeps lack of enthusiasm in rectifying the problems at their cost(which by the way,they absolutley SHOULD have)I have no complaints,maybe I got one that only Master Craftsmen touched,I dont know,all I can re iterate is this really has been and continues to be a VERY reliable trustworthy vehicle.
