do you think 作为插入语放在特殊疑问句中的时候，其后面部分要用陈述句的语序，为什么课本和练习中出现What do you think is the most important invention?

而不是What do you think the most important invention is?

插入语即是说去掉do you think后，对句子没有影响，仍然是完整的，因此第一句是正确的

这句话有两种表达形式，一种是What do you think is the most important invention?这个句子的主语就是what，语序和陈述句语序一样的特殊疑问句，因此不需变化；第2种就是你的理解What do you think the most important invention is?这个句子的主语是the most important invention。语意没有多大差别，就看说话人的中心在哪儿。
