How can freshmen live a balanced college life ?

Being a freshmen in college is a huge change in life as well as life style: no more monitoring by parents; no more house drills when lived home. More social life; more free time and of course more responsibilities. How could then they live a balanced life during their freshmen years ?

First of all: they need to know what is more important: social life or study ?

People go to college not really for socialising only - that is what a club is for. People go to college to learn an advanced skill as well as meeting people from different backgrounds as well as making friends.

Secondly, they need to know how to self control - since freshmen years are usually the first time leaving home - no more enfornced rules and checks from parents - so self displine become important.

Also there are alcohol plenty available, no control would result in drunken sessions continuously - so knowing one's limit is of paramount importance. Last but not least, there are bad apples in any crowds, there are bad influences amonsgt the seniors who take pleasures to make fun of the freshmen - so knowing one's right and dare to say no is also important.

In summary, knowing what one really wants in college, with self displine as well as limits, being able to say no when needed to would help freshmen to live a balanced life.
