这里为什麼用形容词independent 不用名次形式independence呢？？

independent of sth 是形容词短语，意思是 "不被 ... 影响"。
independence of 是名词短语，意思是 "... 的独立", " ... 的独立性“
用哪个要看句意和句子结构的需求。

句子是说
网略学习的其他优点是能够不被实际上的距离影响与同学交流。
（independent of metrical distance = 不被实际的距离影响）
如果要用单词 independence， 语法正确的句子是
Other advantages of e-learning are the ability to communicate with fellow classmates in complete independence from metrical distance.
换句话说，
is independent of sth. 等于 is in complete independence from sth.
这两个是固定搭配的词组。

另外，句子的 other advantages are （复数）接单数 the ability 有错，但这是另一个话题。
