what should I do if I am impatien person while reading long

what should I do if I am impatien person while reading long novels?
when I read a long novel,I am often easy to get
tired of it and I lack of patience.I can
hardly finish half of it before I abandon it.
what should I do and what skill don't I
have to read a big volumn?
for some classic novels, I have to read them
no matter how boring they are because I
am majored in English,I have to read some
difficult works such as Shakespear's or
Dickinson's.

just try your best to finish it.
you can begin with some interesting and attractive ones.
cut a long novel into parts before reading it,tell yourself today you 'd better finish the first part,than the next day you finish the second part ,finally,you fulfill your tasks .
you may also read some backgound material when reading a classical,which will draw your attention and develop your dense interests.
