Good for you. Preposition and adverbial are very difficult. In my company, we have a girl from Beijing. She just told one of the staff here her boss just passed away. In fact, he just passed by.
Passed away means dead.
My suggestion to you is to read English fiction. You will get used to it.
Get on is used for larger carriers and get into for smaller.
I can't explain it, but after living in Canada for 20 years, I just know the right word.
