(Jim likes fruit,but he does not like vegetables.)追问为什么呢？追答因为fruit 是不可数名词，没有复数； vegetables是可数名词，要用复数

dose应该是does fruit 是不可数名词不能用复数吧追问WHY？追答什么WHY?追问fruit应该没错，主要是vegetables

没必要用but吧，感觉but是说两个人一个喜欢一个不喜欢同一样东西用还顺耳点

楼主应该是类指的问题。There are three ways of generic reference ( i.e. reference to a whole class)
a. A horse is a useful animal.
b. The horse is a useful animal.
c. Houses are useful animals.
In the subject position, all three are possible. In a non-subject position, only b. is possible. a and b. lose their generic function. e.g. I am a teacher.
We see many buildings there.
Professor Li is going to give a lecture on the panda.
前面fruit表水果的通称时，既可作可数名词也可做不可数名词，所以没错。而严格意义上说，如上面说到的，非主语位置，vegetable只能用the vegetable.
