1.other 指剩下的一部分，相当于some,例如Some people are playing on the playground,other people are playing chess underthe tree一些人在操场上玩，还有一部分人在树下下棋
2.others就等同于other people或者other things等等的，就是在other后面接名词
3.the other 指两个当中的另一个，例如There are two bags on the shelf,one is red,the other is blue.架子上有两只包，一只是红色的，另一只是蓝色的,the other通常和one连用，特指两个之间的另一个，如上例句。
4.the others 剩下的所有，注意区分的是，the others 指剩下的所有，而others 只指剩下的一部分，例如To this question,some select the first answer,and the others select the second one.对于这道题，有些人选择了第一个答案，其余人则选择了第二个答案。通常others比the others 用得更多一些。
5.another 通常用于指三者或三者以上,意思是下一个的，另一个的。例如This pair of shoes is too short for me,and I want to try another one.这双鞋太小了，我想试下一双。因为你并不知道下一双鞋是否就一定合适，可能还会试很多双，于是就需要用another 。

others只能作代词，意思是“其它的人（物或事等）”，常用来泛指。
the other也是既能作形容词，又能作代词。但它一般用来表示总数为二时的“另外一个”，经常与one搭配。 other也能既作形容词又可作代词，意思是“别的，另外的”。
the others也只能作代词，意思与others相近，但常用来特指。
any other 后接复数名词，表示“一些其他……”；any other后接单数名词时，表示“其他任何一个……”。

2.the other指两个人或物中的一个时，只能用the other，不能用another，此时的other作代词。如：

On the other side of the street，there is a tall tree.
