Generally speaking, there are several reasons accounting for /behind this phenomenon. Firstly, recent decades have witnessed the rapid development of people’s living standards. As a result, cars gained ever-increasing popularity and have found their way into our everyday life. Secondly, people participate in more activities or banquets than ever before, where they will drink liquor/strong wine. Then, they may get drunk but continue to drive.
Drunken driving is bound to generate severe consequence if we keep turning a blind eye to it. Firs and foremost, this behavior will directly threaten the safety of drivers, passengers and pedestrians/goers, resulting in traffic accidents, injuries and even deaths. Besides, treating the injured and repairing broken cars mean a grievous waste of money, time and resources. Last but not least, this irresponsible driving will make the road a nightmare, and thus, it will causes serious losses of faith in governments and the society.
In view of the seriousness of this problem, effective measures must be taken before things get worse. First, it is essential that the supervisory role of laws and regulations should be strengthened to punish those performing drunken driving. Secondly, the public, especially drivers, should enhance their awareness of public safety. With stringent laws and alert public, it will only a matter of time for drunken driving to become things of past.

充分认识酒后驾驶的危害
（一）触觉能力降低，精神亢奋。饮酒后驾车，由于酒精的刺激和麻醉作用，人的手、脚的触觉较平时降低，往往无法正常控制油门、刹车及转向系统，并且容易兴奋，过分地自信。
（二）判断能力和操作能力降低。饮酒后，对光、声剌激反应时间延长，本能反射动作的时间也相应延长，感觉器官和运动器官如眼、手、脚之间的配合功能发生障碍，无法正确判断距离、速度。
（三）视觉模糊。饮酒后可使视力暂时受损，视像不稳，辩色能力下降，因此不能发现和正确判断交通信号、标志和标线。同时饮酒后视野大大减少，视像模糊，眼睛只盯着前方目标，对处于视野的危险隐患难以发现，易发生事故。
（四）心态不正常。在酒精的刺激下，驾驶人往往会过高地估计自己的能力，判断能力、分析能力、操作能力明显迟钝而引发交通事故。
（五）易疲劳。饮酒后由酒精的作用，80%人易出现肝留迷，也就是人们常说的困倦、打磕睡，表现为行驶不规范、空间视觉差等疲劳驾驶的行为而引发交通事故。
科学研究发现，驾驶员在没有饮酒的情况下行车，发现前方有危险情况时，从视觉感知到踩制动器的动作中间的反应时间为0.75秒，而饮酒后驾车反应时间要减慢2—3倍，同速行驶下的制动距离也要相应延长，这大在增加了出事的可能性。资料表明，人呈微醉状开车，其发生事故的可能性为没有饮酒情况下开车的16倍。所以，饮酒驾车，特别是醉酒后驾车，对道路交通安全的危害是十分严重的。
