题主您好~
以下内容摘自Exclusive Interview,题主英文应该是不错的,就没有翻译了~
Vant are a new London band that are really causing quite a stir– their sound is fresh, their live shows energetic and raucous. Their first song ‘Parasite’ has made such an impression it’s already gained them a slot at Koko with the red-hot Royal Blood, and has had record labels scrambling to get a look in. They’ve been compared to The Strokes, The Kinks and Pixies, and yet their frenetic playing could equally be compared to the likes of The Ramones or The Stooges. The fact it’s so hard to pin down the comparison to one band or sound can mean only one thing, these guys are onto something good.

Vant are the creation of founder member Mattie Vant, originally from Newcastle. Mattie’s passion to play rock n roll and tell the world how f*****d up it is has brought together a group of talented young musicians. It’s rare and refreshing nowadays to meet a band that have not only evolved naturally, but who also choose to express their beliefs through their music. “We’ve got a worldwide view, we care about climate change, vegetarianism, a bunch of hippy bullsh*t you might think, but it matters to us. It’s like there’s 90% of the stuff going on in the world that’s not good and not many musicians write about it, people need to open their eyes.”
Working at the infamous Birthdays club in Dalston Mattie met Billy Morris who was fresh out of a hippy commune in Swansea. “I met our Swedish drummer (Martin Söderin) in the North East of England whilst playing the same gig and did some tune swaps. I thought he’d be perfect so jokingly sent an email asking if he fancied moving to England to be in my band, he said yes and asked if I could get him a job! The final piece was Henry (Eastham), a mutual friend of another bartender. It was all very natural and I think that’s when you can tell that it’s working – you don’t have to force it.”
Working at Birthdays was a real catalyst for Mattie, it has played host to a plethora of bands such as The Cribs, Bloc Party and Peace to name a few. “We wouldn’t be where we are now without Birthdays and we still rehearse in their basement now, it’s an incredible place for inspiration and meeting interesting people. We’re hoping to do some shows in one of their sister venues in May.”
Vant are about to embark on their first ever UK tour, including a show at Birmingham’s Sunflower Lounge on Wednesday April 29 with Curb and Electric (on Mattie’s birthday,) and he’s hoping it’s going to be a party. “We’re looking forward to seeing some new faces, there seems to be a lot of intrigue about us as we’ve so little music out there. I think the mystery draws people in and for us it’s fun to see people respond and start nodding their heads along to tunes. It’s my birthday so we’ll be looking to party after!”
Despite recently being snapped up by Parlophone Records, Vant have decided to release their first double A side single themselves on their Dumb Blood Records label. The release will be sometime around Record Store Day, limited to 150 copies and on baby pink vinyl. “We would have been stupid not to take up Parlophone’s offer, we get to keep creative control and with bands like Radiohead, Blur etc. you can’t argue with their roster of British acts. But with this first release we wanted to keep that DIY ethic, we want to make sure people know we are a real band and not manufactured like everything else out there.”
With more and more bands releasing on vinyl, I spoke to Mattie about the importance of a physical release in a digital age. “Its massive, we’ve moved into a digital era where the main source of music is sites like YouTube, Spotify and iTunes, but there are still a lot of vinyl junkies out there. People who are really into music rely mainly on digital but like to get albums or singles they really love on vinyl or CD, you can’t deny the sound quality and that feeling of holding a new album. We’ve actually got a song 22 seconds long we might release on floppy disc!”
With a UK tour, new release and festivals in the pipeline, Vant & their “hippy bullsh*t” is heading your way – make sure you’re ready.追问谢谢啦!超级喜欢这个乐队!!
