本文从翻译技巧的角度出发,通过对比杨宪益,霍克斯两个《红楼梦》的英译本,对两个译本中高频出现的人名,诗词,回目,习语等的翻译进行了初步探讨,探讨隐藏在其背后的文化因素,如何最大限度地实现再现原文等效,有助于加深对两位译者的翻译风格与翻译方法的认识.

From the perspective of translation skills and by making a comparision between the two english versions of Dream of the Red Chamber from Hawks and Yang,this paper offers a tentative analysis on characters' names, poetry, paragraphs and idoms that appear quite frequently in Dream of the Red Chamber.And it also intends to discuss related cultural elements hidden behind the book. By doing these it tries to find out how translators can acheive better translation. This paper offers the readers a better understanding of the different translation styles of the two translators.
