in stead of 原文是代替的意思
rather than 是宁愿的意思追问其实后者还有“是...而不是”的意思追答如果是你说的rather than 的意思那也应该是用在主语后

Instead of为替代，【例】1.He's a teacher instead of a student. 他是一个老师，而不是学生。
2.I went to the party instead of her.我代替她去了那个派对。

Rather than有比较的意味在里面，可以说有感情色彩。
