Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, also known as Madiba in South Africa, is the first president of
South Africa. He is born on July 18th in 1918, and was the president
for 1994 until 1999. Before he was a president, he was an anti-apartheid
activist, a person who is against racial segregation. The South African courts charged
him of crimes committed during the anti segregation movement, so he was put in
jail for 27 years.
