小弟有几个英语问题无法理解希望大家给于帮助

As the man tried to swing the speedboat round, the steering wheel came away in his hands. 为什么这里有round这个词 swing是转向的意思已经足够了啊 还有 这里的in改成from不更好？
He waved desperately to his companion, who had been water skiing last fifteen minutes 这里的water如何解释呢
In less than a minute, it roared past them a few feet away. 这里的roar 和pass不可能都是动词吧 如果不是那是什么呢
before long 是不久的意思我实在是记不住我改怎么理解呢

1，swing around 是“掉头”的意思，类似turn around ,去掉 around 就仅仅是“转向”
2，in 和 from 都可以
3，water skiing 是一种水上运动，就是有快艇牵引着划水者在水面上滑行那种
4，past 可以作介词 如：“My house is the one just past the turning.”
5，before long = soon 记不住就不用记了，口语中很少用before long

这是时间状语，前面必须要用介词in，这样才能表示“在哪一年”的意思。
